Marshwood Cricket team won a thrilling contest at Axminster
On a glorious afternoon at Axminster, Marshwood won the toss and elected to bat against an Axminster team who were experiencing a cricket match for the first time. Some excellent bowling from Bobby B and Emily N restricted Marshwood opening pair to 12 in the first 2 overs but some excellent ball striking by Maru-Jane and William from Marshwood got them back into the contest and at the half way stage of their innings they were nicely placed at 54 off 5 overs. Some great fielding from Axminister's brother and sister combination of Kaityn and Luke brought Axminster back into the game but Marshwood finished on 189 for the loss of 5 wickets. Axminster rely started brightly with Toby H finding the boundary regularly but some great catching from the Marshwood fielders brought them back into the contest. The last bowling pair for Marshwood took 3 wickets and Axminster finished on 161-6 and lost by 28 runs. The game was played in a great sprit from both teams in the warm afternoon sunshine.
Our last Acorn Academy tournament of the Year will take place on Tuesday 10th July at Axminster which is our Year 5/6 Olympic Sports Day. We hope to see lots of parents and supports coming along to the eventĀ
